Travis Broussard

Strategic Alliance Partner

A native Texan, Travis has 20 years of experience under the Capitol Dome and has worn many hats in his career including Chief-of-staff to State Senator Jane Nelson, Director of the Senate Select Committee on Cybersecurity, and Clerk of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services.  Most recently he established Travis Broussard Consulting to bring his unique experience and expertise to the private sector.  He advises many technology companies on policy matters including public data privacy, emerging technology, and how to effectively engage during the 87th Legislature.  He has also advised the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association, helping to promote one of the state’s most fruitful industries.

Travis coordinated legislative and budget strategy during the 86th Legislative Session to improve the state’s cybersecurity maturity, provide cybersecurity relief to local governments, secure the state’s electric grid, and bolster the state’s cybersecurity workforce pipeline through STEM education.  In addition to cybersecurity, Travis helped lead hundreds of bills to passage including legislation to reform local transportation authorities, improve state contracting oversight, and spur economic development in the Metroplex.

Travis has a sterling reputation around the Capitol for being an honest broker with a friendly and fair attitude and has been a go-to problem solver when the going gets tough.  He can sprint when the situation needs a hustle but knows how to run a marathon (with a medal to prove it). The Capitol was his second home as an intern during undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, and he honed his policy chops at UCLA by earning a Master of Public Policy degree.  His favorite hat is the cowboy hat he wore on a national game show (true story), and he’s won several Toastmasters speech competitions.
